Body: My first purchase with BaseGear. Wasnt sure how things would be given the many bad online merchants but these guys had a decent rating and a great price free shipping so I gave it a try. Boy Im glad I did. Everything went very smoothly and the item was shipped FAST. It was a Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man jacket and when it arrived, I found that it was a little smaller than I thought (atheletic cut). They have a different exchange process where you need to get a RMA then send the item back and purchase a new one in a new order. Went through the exchange process and sent a mail to let them know Im exchanging not returning so they wont charge me for the free gift I got earlier. Very fast, friendly and helpful responses. Got the new jacket in a few more days and my CC was credited for the item returned within a week. Aweseom guys. Will definitely shop BaseGear again.

Body: The product description for the Jetboil PCS indicated a free canister of fuel, but when my order arrived the fuel was not included. When I contacted customer service, they told me this was an expired offer - though there was no indication of that in the product description. When I complained that I had been counting on the canister being included with my order, and that I lost out on the opportunity to have it included in my order over $50.00 for free shipping, they offered free shipping on the canister. Bottom line: I was promised a fuel canister, and the company should have simply sent one out to me, rather than making excuses and negotiating free shipping - the canister only has a retail value of $4.00! It seems more important to their customer service to avoid acknowledging the promise of their product description than to keep me as a customer. I simply cannot trust what they promise on their website will be what I actually recieve as my purchase- this is the point, not the $4.00 canister. How would they handle a much larger purchase under similar circumstances? They lost me as a customer, and I found a store where I can purchase my fuel canisters.

Body: In Australia there is not a distributor of the AMK Bivvy bags. A number of us in the Audax club who are doing the Paris Brest Paris randonnee were keen to purchase these bags. Freigh costs down under are a killer. By negotiating a group buy we were able to spread the shipping costs across 20 or so bags at a time which make the deal much more cost effective. The crew at BaseGear were most helpful at every stage of the process. The tracking system worked well and when one batch of the bags landed up getting sidelined by customs I was able to figure what had happened and therefore had an agent lined up to clear them quickly. Body: Now heres a company that goes the extra mile! I had ordered an item from another company (because Basegear didnt carry it) and then ordered a similar item from Basegear a day or so later. When the first item arrived I misread the shipping label and thought it was from Basegear. I couldnt believe I had gotten it so fast, so I wrote an email congratulating them. Basegear became worried because they had only shipped the item that morning. They went to the trouble of calling me to make sure I had received the item from them and that it was the item I ordered. Without really checking, I assurred them it was. Then I discovered my mistake. Still worried that I had either received the wrong item or an item meant for someone else, they called again. I admitted my mistake and the customer service rep was obviously relieved. I got the item from Basegear the next day. How many companies care enough to check out a possible error like this before anyone complains? Not too many. To say the least, I am happy with Basegear and highly recommend them to anyone!
